The pillars of dog training

Dog training means teaching your dog to live with you: understanding what is asked of him, adapting to his environment, and acting by choice rather than out of fear. These basic skills are the foundation of a balanced relationship, for the puppy discovering the world as much as for the adult dog who needs a clearer framework.
Coming back when called is the basis of safety. I help you build this reflex reliably, even around distractions.
Your dog learns to walk by your side, in harmony, for pleasant, relaxed walks for both of you.
Sit, down, stay: these skills structure the relationship and make daily life easier, at home and outdoors.
A well-socialized dog adapts calmly to his environment, to other dogs and to people. Essential work, especially for puppies.

My method as a positive dog trainer

I work exclusively with gentle, scientifically validated methods. Positive training works because it respects how dogs naturally function: a dog repeats what brings him something good. Every exercise is built on trust and shared enjoyment.

Every session is a private lesson at your place, tailor-made to your dog's age, temperament and needs. You come away with concrete exercises to practice every day.

Why choose The Dog Nanny?

I am a certified positive dog behaviorist and trainer, and a professional member of recognized animal welfare organizations. My dual training allows me to approach every dog as a whole: understanding his behavior in order to train him better, and telling apart what is a training matter from what calls for behavioral support.

All my sessions take place at your place in Walloon Brabant and Brussels, where your dog lives his everyday life. If you are outside my area, I also offer online sessions.

FAQ: dog training

The earlier the better. From 8 weeks, the puppy is in his socialization period: the ideal window for socialization and first skills.

Absolutely. It is never too late to train an adult dog. With the right method and consistency, results are often quick and lasting.
Dog training is about learning basic behaviors: recall, leash walking, wait, stay, sit, down, among others. Dog behaviorism addresses deeper problems such as anxiety, reactivity or aggression. The two approaches are complementary, and I practice both.
It depends on the dog, his age and your goals. For training, 2 to 3 sessions are generally enough. For behavior problems, it depends on the dog's past and his emotional state in his environment. A 15-minute call is offered within 2 weeks of the consultation.
Yes, I work in houses and apartments alike. The living environment is part of the training: working in your dog's real environment ensures that what he learns lasts.

I work exclusively through private lessons. I also offer theme walks in small groups to work on various aspects of the walk: recall, leash walking, socialization, among others.
