Dog behaviorist in Braine-l'Alleud

Does your dog bark for no apparent reason, pull on the leash or struggle with every absence? As a dog behaviorist, I travel to Braine-l'Alleud to work directly at your place, understand the origin of the problem and help you get back to a calmer daily life with your companion. My support rests on a positive approach, respectful of animal welfare and adapted to each dog's temperament.
Whether you live in the center of Braine-l'Alleud or in the villages of Ophain-Bois-Seigneur-Isaac and Lillois-Witterzée, I carefully observe your dog in his real living environment. That is where, in his daily life, his behaviors show naturally, and where lasting solutions are built.

My dog behaviorist services in Braine-l'Alleud

I offer a professional local service to dog owners in Braine-l'Alleud and the municipalities I cover, along two complementary lines. Dog behaviorism targets established problems: anxiety, reactivity, aggression, predatory instinct management, barking, destructive behavior, trauma. Dog training, for its part, focuses on laying the foundations of a balanced relationship: safety skills on top of recall, leash walking, house training and socialization.

Puppy, adult dog or rescue dog, every profile receives individualized support, with practical advice from our very first appointment.

In addition, I offer theme walks in small groups to perfect the exercises learned during the consultation.

The area I cover around Braine-l'Alleud

I come to your home in Braine-l'Alleud, as well as in neighboring municipalities such as Waterloo. I favor sessions at your place or outdoors, where your dog actually expresses his behavior. Outside this area, an online consultation remains possible, anywhere in Belgium and beyond.

My approach: a positive, evidence-based method

Every follow-up relies on positive reinforcement: no coercion, no power struggle, only observation and rewarding good behavior. Unlike methods based on submission, which science has discredited, I build a climate of mutual trust with your dog, that loyal friend and companion. I keep training every year, which keeps my knowledge up to date and lets me adjust every support plan to the animal's real needs, for concrete results that last.

We have adopted a Bichon half breed from a shelter and despite consistent training he was very reactive and barking while meeting other dogs... Sonia was great in delivering a 2 hours session together with her amazing dog, Simone and we have seen an immediate improvement in our dogs ability to socialize with other dogs... I would strongly recommend Sonia and Simone

Sonia is an amazing behaviourist. She understands dog language and our dog absolutely adores her. Since she has been helping us, our dog is much more confident, better at socialising with other dogs and the bond with us has also grown stronger. We understand our dog’s needs much better. We tried another dog trainer before her, who claimed to be a ‘positive’ trainer, and my husband and I were truly appalled at the amount of bad advise based on domination and fear. Please, be very careful out there. Trainers love to use the word ‘positive’ for marketing reasons and then apply the same old dog training methods of decades ago. Sonia is a TRULY POSITIVE trainer. She understands that dogs are sentient and truly amazing creatures who deserve to be a part of our family and feel loved and safe. Reinforcing those feelings truly works. We are living proof of it. Also, she speaks English wonderfully, so that she will be able to help not only in French, but also in English. If you are in need of help to fix whatever issues you are experiencing with your furry friend, do not look any further. Your dog could not be in better hands!!

Even before our session Sonia took the time to learn and think deeply about our new puppy and the challenges he was dealing with. When we met, she immediately tuned in to his personality and history, especially after a difficult experience at the breeder and a long recovery from his fracture. Sonia is very knowledgeable and her approach is gentle, insightful, and genuinely reassuring. She gave us practical, thoughtful advice that already helped us understand our puppy's behaviour and needs. You can really tell she loves what she does and has a deep empathy for both dogs and owners, which is especially important when you've had a tough start. Also, a special mention to her wonderful assistant Simone - an absolute delight and a perfect role model for our Ollie. Thank you so much Sonia & Simone!

FAQ: dog behaviorist in Braine-l'Alleud

I analyze the origin of a behavior problem (anxiety, aggression, fear) and put in place a suitable support plan to restore a balanced relationship between you and your dog.

As soon as your dog's behavior worries you or disrupts your daily life: aggression, persistent fear, separation anxiety, excessive barking or destructive behavior. The earlier the intervention, the faster the problem is corrected, but it is never too late to start.

The first phone call is free. The behavior assessment at your place and the personalized management and training plan are charged according to a detailed rate card, shared during our first exchanges.

I come to Braine-l'Alleud itself and to certain other municipalities in Walloon Brabant and the Brussels region. If you live further away, an online consultation remains possible, anywhere in Belgium.

The vast majority of consultations take place at your place, because that is where your dog's behaviors show most naturally. An outdoor session, in your neighborhood, is sometimes useful for reactivity on walks.

I work on the full range of problems, such as separation anxiety, reactivity, aggression, predatory instinct management, excessive barking, destructive behavior and supporting traumatized dogs. Every situation receives an individualized behavior assessment.

Yes, it is one of the most frequent problems I see, whatever the breed. Separation anxiety does not depend on a particular breed but on each dog's history, temperament and gradual learning to be alone. In the vast majority of cases, targeted support restores a calmer relationship with absence.

It is a guideline often used when welcoming a rescue dog: 3 days to decompress and get used to his new environment, 3 weeks to learn his new routine, and 3 months to feel fully confident. This timeline is indicative only: some dogs need more time, especially in cases of wariness or trauma, and personalized follow-up is essential to adjust the support to their pace.

The first meeting starts with a full behavior assessment at your place, followed, if you wish, by a tailor-made support plan. A 15-minute call is offered within two weeks of the consultation.

First contact is free and usually happens within 24 to 48 hours. The first consultation at your place is then scheduled according to our availability, often within the following week.

It is not compulsory, but it is sometimes useful: some problems are a matter of health rather than behavior. I am happy to work with the veterinarians in your area, whose care and expertise in veterinary medicine usefully complement my behavioral support.

They are two complementary professions that I practice. The trainer lays positive foundations before a problem appears. The behaviorist steps in once a problem has set in, to understand its cause and resolve it for good. If in doubt, contact me: I will point you in the right direction from our first exchange.
