Become a signatory of the
Code of Conduct and Ethics

Signing The Dog Nanny Academy Code of Ethics and Conduct — for the defense of dogs' welfare and against everyday mistreatment — means complying with every point set out in this Code, together with a certification attesting to the exclusive use of positive dog training or positive dog behaviorism.

This certification was designed and written by Sonia Quertenmont, a dog behaviorist certified by three internationally recognized organizations*, active in the dog world since 2009, and founder of “The Dog Nanny” and “The Dog Nanny Academy”, registered trademarks.

Signing The Dog Nanny Academy Code of Conduct and Ethics, hereinafter TDNA, is central to the certification issued by The Dog Nanny Academy.

The welfare of, and ethical conduct towards, not only dogs but also the dog owners helped by any signatory of the TDNA Code shall comply with it. Any deviation from these guidelines by a signatory of the TDNA Code will result in the immediate termination of their certification.

Conditions for obtaining the Certification

  • Having passed the positive dog trainer course delivered by The Dog Nanny Academy
  • Being committed to positive training and never resorting — under any circumstances and whatever the dog's breed or attitude — to fear, intimidation, manipulation or any other form of physical or psychological punishment
  • Having a registered business in the animal sector and a VAT number

Benefits for affiliates

All certification holders will have their business listed on my websites. If they speak fluent English, they will also be listed on my English site. They will also be featured on my social media.
No fee will be charged; membership is free.
Be part of the first French-speaking code of conduct and ethics aimed at advocating, developing and spreading as widely as possible the importance of positive training and canine welfare.
Be part of a network of mutual support and open discussion in case of discouragement, or when you need advice and assistance. Members will also be featured on my social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
Have the exclusive opportunity to join a Facebook page supervised by Sonia Quertenmont and dedicated solely to signatories, with a free one-hour Q&A session by video conference organized by Sonia Quertenmont once a month.
Be able to call on another member if you feel that the case you are handling is beyond your remit.

Benefits for clients

Positive training
The guarantee that the dog professional they call on will not use any coercive method and will under no circumstances hurt their dog or subject him to physical or emotional pain.
Availability
The option to turn to Sonia Quertenmont in case of an issue with a professional, and to find a solution to resolve the problem.
Certified
Calling on a certified professional whose skills have been validated and whose business is registered. The certification guarantees clients a positive, ethical approach to their animal.

Professional responsibilities

The full Code of Conduct will be disclosed to every (aspiring) professional who takes my positive dog training course.
